Sarah Lambkin
Sarah’s eyes locked onto the ball as it flew down the field toward her. A player from the other team, Elizabeth O’Brien, tried to step in front of Sarah in order to receive the ball and move it towards the goal. Sarah wouldn’t have anything to do with that. Sarah kicked Elizabeth’s feet out from underneath her, causing Elizabeth to slam into the ground. At the same time, the ball rocketed into Elizabeth’s stomach. As Elizabeth doubled over in pain and the referee’s whistle blew, Sarah looked down and laughed into the face of the injured player from the other team.
The Man in the Black Cloak
The Man in the Black Cloak stood on the rooftop of a warehouse as rain poured down upon him and the rest of the city in the dark of night. Despite the patter of rain on his surroundings and the rumble of thunder overhead, he still clearly heard the cries for help from the teenage boy in the street below.
A gang of thugs was chasing the boy down, threatening to rob him and beat him up for riding his bicycle through their territory. The Man in the Black Cloak sprang into action. He used the rappel wire on his utility belt to climb down to the shadows of the alleyway. He sprang from the shadows and scared the thugs away, and as soon as he was sure that the boy was safe and the thugs had fully retreated, he returned to his rooftop vigil.

Dr. Karen McKnight
Dr. McNight stepped into the examination room where her patient was waiting anxiously for her diagnosis. “Your test results are back,” said Dr. McNight. Her solemn look made the patient’s eyes well up with tears. “I’m afraid that you tested positive for cancer. However, your type of cancer is very treatable.” She took the hand of her patient and smiled, “I’m going to be there with you every step of the way, and you’re going to be just fine.”
Gurglin' Thomas Grimm
The pirate Gurglin’ Thomas Grimm hadn’t seen another ship in nearly two months, and rations were running low. So when the trade vessel The Sea Maiden appeared on the horizon, he began to wonder not only what valuables might be onboard, but what food might be ripe for the stealing.
It wasn’t long before Grimm’s ship had caught up to the larger, slower trade ship. He gathered his cutlass and his rucksack before swinging over and onto the deck of the Sea Maiden. The sailors had no defenses and were quickly overcome by Grimm and his crew. After taking all of the goods and food of the trade sailors, he turned to leave. “Please! Wait! We’ll starve out here with no food!” cried one of the sailors.
“Not my problem,” replied Gurglin’ Thomas Grimm, and he swung back to his own ship and went on his way.

James Kindler
James Kindler gathered his files and readied his slideshow to present to his boss. Not only could his plans for the company get him a great promotion with a larger office and a better view, but his plans could save the company vast amounts of money, which he could use to fund benefit programs for his coworkers, as well as put more toward their salaries.
He reviewed everything before entering the conference room. Not only was his career and his future on the line, but so were the livelihoods of many of his coworkers and friends from around the office. Only after ensuring that he had all of his supplies did James straighten his tie and head into the meeting.

Joshua Garcia
Josh was walking home from school when he heard the shouts of Bill Rhodes, a bully from his school. Josh decided to investigate, and following the sound of Bill’s raised voice, found the bully threatening Marco, one of his friends from school, in an alleyway. Josh felt like he should help Marco and try to stop Bill, but Bill was so much bigger than he was, and would likely just beat both of them up.
Josh started to turn and run when he accidentally bumped into a trash can, knocking it over with a loud crash. Bill saw Josh, and yelled to him “Beat it! Get out of here!”
Josh was running away before he knew what he was doing. He had left Marco to fend for himself instead of helping his friend. He felt ashamed, but was also glad that he had gotten away without being hurt.
